PLANS UNDERWAY FOR 2009 ANNUAL SHOW

Show Chairman, Bill Wetzel, has already started planning the 2009 annual show. The theme is "Prairie 'HOMETOWN' Companion" and is based on Garrison Keillor's public radio program, "Prarie Home Companion". The date is Saturday, April 18th, 2009 with performances at 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM at the Acuity Theatre at Plymouth High School. The guest quartet is "REDLINE"..........

MEMBERS ATTEND MID-WINTER CONVENTION

A number of local members attended the Mid-Winter Convention of the Barbershop Harmony Society held in San Antonio TX on January 23rd through the 26th. George Miller, Mike Popelka, Clark Koechel, Chris Raisbeck and Jim Weber represented the Plymouth Chapter. The Convention hosted the first Youth Chorus Festival with youth choruses attending from New Zealand, Canada and the United States. The "Marcsmen" from San Marcos TX were crowned champions. The Senior Quartet Contest was won by "Eureka".

 

AL PROM NAMED BARBERSHOPPER OF THE YEAR

Al Prom was named "Barbershopper of the Year" recently. Prom was cited for his past contributions to the chorus during the past year. He was recognized for chairing the annual Barbershop Show last year and for his work with the "Youth In Harmony" program. Al is a 35 year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society and resides with his wife Joanne in West Bend. 

 

OFFICERS ELECTED FOR 2008

George Miller was elected Chorus President for 2008. Other officers elected are Bill Wetzel (Immediate Past President), Jim Weber  (President Elect), Bob Cooke (Treasurer), Randy Hulsebus (Secretary), Mike Popelka  (VP - Marketing & Public Relations), Dave Rabe (VP - Music & Performance), Dave Becker (Chorus Manager), Bill Lamberton (VP - Chapter Development) and Board Directors Roger Zimmerman, Jerry Damkot, and Tony Koenigs.

 

DIRECTOR NAMED

Chris Raisbeck has been named music director of Hometown Harmony Tradition, the Plymouth chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Raisbeck graduated from UW - Plateville in 2003 with degrees in general and choral music education. He is the middle and high school choral director for the Northern Ozaukee School District. He also completed the "Director's College" at Harmony University, which is held at Missouri Western State University. Chris and his wife Wendy, reside in Kiel.
