Hometown Harmony Tradition (HHT) is proud to introduce its director, Brad Charles. Brad brings a wonderful musical background, tremendous leadership skills, and boundless enthusiasm for vocal music to HHT. Although Brad may deceive you with his youthful exuberance, he is actually a 30 year veteran of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS).

Over the past 20 years, Brad has directed four BHS choruses and one Sweet Adeline chorus. Currently, in addition to directing HHT, Brad has also directed the Festival City Chorus (BHS) of Milwaukee and the Crosstown Harmony Sweet Adeline Chorus of West Allis. Under Brad’s leadership, the Festival City Chorus won the 2008 Division I Championship and Most Improved Chorus. The Crosstown Harmony Chorus, not to be outdone, has enjoyed two Regional Championships and three International appearances during his tenure. Brad is a popular quartet and vocal coach who has served on the faculty of several district music schools and is one of only a handful of certified directors for both men’s and women’s barbershop choruses.

Prior to his directing pursuits, Brad was a charter member of the three-time 5th place International Bronze Medalist Chorus from Greendale, WI, “Midwest Vocal Express.” As a quartet singer he has qualified for the men’s International contest, won one District Championship, six Division Championships, and a national mixed quartet contest.

In his spare time, Brad is a test-preparation instructor for the insurance and securities exam and serves as choir director of his church. He is the proud father of twin twenty-something daughters, a grandfather by one of them, and is married to wife Nancy, an accomplished singer in her own right. .
